To get the end result you desire,
you need to work hard at the base.
A sword is just metal until you
melt down and shape the blade.
This requires a lengthy process of
heating, hammering, and heating again,
Until eventually you get to the point
of being able to sharpen the edge.
Grinding at the tough metal
while ensuring it is still strong and sturdy,
Being aware of the level of pressure
being placed upon it, to avoid it snapping.
Sometimes, people need to be taken
to a smith of their own.
One who sits you down and uses precise,
strong words to melt down your mind.
Only to then pick up the mantle and
help shape it into the person you once were.
All of this until you too are a sharp,
sturdy blade, ready to fight your own battles.
