“You should be a lawyer…”
Hmmm.. Powerful, Confident, Commanding
Everything a BLACK woman exudes
“…Since you like to argue so much” the record scratches
What did I do to you?
I replay the moment, I adjust my stance
I take a different approach, and explain my feelings.
“OMG here we go again.”
I’ve yet to speak a word, why the offense?
I just want to explain how you hurt me, I thought we were friends?
“You’re hurting your own feelings.” usually spoken by people who have hurt me.
Well wait let me just explain-
“I’m not hearing this again!”
An empty pit begins to consume my stomach, a fire burns in my throat.
Just like my parents. scoffs This has to be a joke.
I adjust the crown on my head, and remember the woman I have became.
Blowing silent kisses to the little girl who still remains in my heart remains.
I gather my posture, and step into my rhythm and stride.
As I leave behind me those who have yet to open their eyes.
To the destruction they do to souls, due to not understanding their own.
Projection is poison. But I am made of stone.
“You should be a lawyer.”
No I should not.
I have dreams that go beyond the peak of mountain tops.
Where souls go to be heard, and arms reach out to feel the hem
Beyond where the clouds stop.
Dreams between me and HIM.
