~Graveyard Where All Broken Things Go~

Nicole Watts

Between the days and months of passing,
The well loved beaded bracelet left my grasp,
piling onto itself,
Weighted by the purpose it has fulfilled.
Or bearing the loss of its use.
I never dared to leave it behind.
I didn’t decide for its departure,
But when the small piece of jewelry
no longer resides with the reason for why you bought it,
It falters.
Pulling away.
Falling apart.
The new and more polished pieces you have bought finalized that.
Despite the grief, the beads continue to disband,
Each holding a file of remembrance
as they venture off into the graveyard where all broken things go.
