To give it all to You
to You
As simple as an annoying pimple
That won’t go away
It lingers, festers, and sits where it is not welcomed
Seemingly leaving scars that have no useful story
To tell…
As challenging as thirst
When there is an abundance of water
but no desire to drink
I ask myself and tear up
Burdened
By myself
If only I
Simply
Gave it all
to the Lord
I’ve seen scars on children
On my family
From years and moments of pain
They tell stories
To see a young boy drink muddy water
like it was the best water
in the world
to another young boy
Who tried to
take that muddy water
for himself too
To see a baby
strapped to the back of her sister
Them both hiking miles for food and water
A thirst; a hunger
Their starvation masked
By familiar pains they’ve
“Simply” gotten used to
So what is a pimple to me?
What is a problem of dehydration
when I have an abundance of clean water
to drink?
A reminder, like Paul
A blessing;
To have these “thorns” in my side
To give me perspective
And be reminded to cast all my cares on Him
because He cares for me
Even if it’s simply a pimple
And a lack of desire to drink
beautifully pure water.
Selfish?
Or small sufferings?
That remind me to cast my eyes
Upon Jesus
To cast my eyes towards others
To see their sufferings too
Big and small.
Whatever it be
Cast them all
Cast your nets people
To fish for men
To capture
and heal
And to release again
Cast them all
And ask
What’s your reminder?
What’s your motivator?
You can’t truly change the world
Til you first truly change yourself
